We were starting to worry that From Software had gone soft. First was the announcement that players who pre-order Dark Souls II will get a helping hand via the Black Armor Weapons Pack. Then last week they released a gentler, more encouraging Dark Souls II trailer than we are used to. Fortunately then, Bandai Namco Games have just released a new developer diary entitled ‘dark intentions’ which should put any fears to rest.

The dev diary features Dark Souls II director Yui Tanamura and other key team members who reveal From Software’s dark intentions for the soon-to-be-released game. After a quick introduction to the game’s story and themes, we are then treated to in-depth look at various parts of the development process such as the way that character design is used to tell a story. The video also enlists passionate Dark Souls fan Peter Serafinowicz who explains the charm of the series and admits that Dark Souls is so enjoyable that it has “ruined other videogames” for him.

“It’s just the most enjoyable experience I’ve had playing videogames, to the point that it’s ruined other videogames for me.”

Dark Souls II is one of our Most Anticipated Games of 2014 and will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 11 in North America and on March 14 in PAL territories. A PC version will also follow at a later date.

I have to agree with him. I find that after the rich atmosphere of Lordran most other 3rd person gamining experiences seem shallow and underdone.

Now if only they would release DS2 for the current gen systems.
