The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon X and Y have managed to sell a massive 12 million copies on the Nintendo 3DS. Considering that the handheld has shipped over 42 million units itself, that puts a Pokémon X and Y game in the hands of over one in four 3DS owners worldwide. This puts total game sales for the series at 245 million, a staggering figure that is only topped by Nintendo’s own Mario franchise. It appears that there is still plenty of steam in the unstoppable Pokémon train.
This comes after recent news that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold an impressive 7.38 million copies worldwide.
