We’ve got a new batch of screenshots and details from Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai’s Miiverse page. First up we have a screenshot of Zelda getting a bit fiery with Toon Link in the Wii U version of the game. Maybe he uttered the line “Well excuuuse me princess” one too many times. Sakurai explains that “Zelda’s Din’s Fire is now stronger in its core” and that “the farther it’s projected, the bigger and more powerful it will be, but you need to hit foes with the core if you want to make them fall”.
Also for the Wii U version we were treated to this great shot of Donkey Kong in the magical Pikmin universe. We adored both Pikmin 3 and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze which we reviewed recently, so this pic makes us feel all warm and fuzzy.
Finally we have a fresh bunch of screenshots for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. which you can see in the gallery below. It was revealed that there will be a dynamic side-scrolling stage based on Super Mario 3D Land. Sakurai states that “it takes roughly two minutes to complete a lap, and at the end you go into a giant pipe that takes you back to the beginning”.
We also got a nice pic of Animal Crossing’s Villager kicking back at home with the Wii Fit trainer. According to Sakurai it “looks like someone’s enjoying the bachelor life in this pad.”
Nintendo hasn’t specified an exact release date for Super Smash Bros. but we know that it will be coming to Wii U and 3DS later in the year. Stay tuned for more information on Super Smash Bros.
